the blogger site has been acting up lately, so I am going to leave it alone for this week.
But going to get some stuff ordered and hopefully get the motor in this weekend.

I got myself a domain.
Now my site is at Sirwarrior.com

This is a little un-related but I just noticed that I have 40+ Gmail Invites, so if you need one, just go to comments section and post your email addy with a comment.

Got myself a tool chest on Sunday, and its nice to finally have a place to put all my tools in. In the begining of this project all I really had was some screwdrivers and a small rachet set. Now I have air compressor, air tools, 3ton jack, lights, and pretty much all the wrenches/sockets/rachtes/air tool attachments I need.
I didn't really plan on spending this extra money on tools, but I am glad that I did.

Got off a little early yesterday, so I went and worked a little in the garage. I mainly focused on getting the engine a little cleaner than it was. I put on the different turbo elbows so that its ready to go in. I managed to get them cleaned up before installing too :P
Lately I have been thinking about getting a SAFC for the car and putting in the Z32 Maf. But I don't know if there is a point of getting it if the car isn't done. But I will be getting an FMIC after my tax return comes in, and if the car is up and running. I was thinking about either Blitz LM or Hybrid, especially since Ben can get a Hybrid FMIC for pretty good price.

I called and found the J30 axles for $180 new with lifetime warranty.
I'm going to look into the outputs to see if they are cheaper, and maybe go that route. Depends on price.

KA24DEvelopment.com :: VLSD Swap Information: "You have 2 options: Different output shafts, or different axles (i.e. early ['92-94] J30 axles)

You’ll need the output shafts from either the ABS equipped 240SX w/LSD, or the ones from a ’95-96 J30 LSD (same part).

Or you can use the axles from the '92-94 J30 with the diff, as they have the same ‘5 star’ bolt pattern but the correct length, splines count, and axle nut"
A little more sources that say that I can use J30 axles for the 5bolt

So today me and Mike got the tranny mounted and most of the brackets put on. As he didn't have the time, we didn't put the motor in, but I still need to install the starter and couple other things before it can be installed.
I replaced the belts for alternator and power steering, and took off the AC compressor, I won't be putting that on for now.
I also need to take off the oil filter adapter, as the relocation kit will not be going in. The dual filter is simply too big to fit in the engine bay, so I will have to get the single oil filter kit and mount it than.
I now have till Sunday to get the wiring harness in, change the fluids in the tranny and the diff, there was something else but I can't remember.
We need to install the clutch line, but the slave cylinder is still good, so no need for a new one.

IveBeenBad: "do you know if the j30 ever came in a 5 bolt pattern?"
R240NA: "92-94. 95-up is 6bolt."

OMFG it took me whole day today to figure this out.
Ben had the 6 bolt axles so they wouldn't work for my Z32 NA VLSD. He made me double than triple guess myself about this. UGH!!! hehe.

Oh yeah I got a new email address, now you can email me at here

Tire size calculator
This thing kicks ass. Nice thing to have.

I started to mess around with the battery tray in the trunk. I am going to mount it to the floor with two 12mm bolts, but I need to get some new drill bits as mine are dull. I used one of the existing holes, the other one will be drilled straight through.

Saturday, March 05, 2005

So the battery tray is history, it was a lot more pain in the ass than I expected, but no wiring was cut, and the paint is drying on it now.
The SMIC is installed too, I only ended up using the one bracket and the bolt on top to keep it in place. Should be enough.
I also finally got the LSD out of the Z32 subframe. She didn't want to go, but nothing some cutting and torching wouldn't fix. Now its just sitting waiting for me to get the J30 driveshafts. Which apparently someone has local for not too bad of a price. So I will go ahead and pick them up tomorrow.
I got some of the car cleaned up too, got to finally put the lower dash together, but I will have to take most of the stuff off when doing the gauges, but I will be swapping the parts for black ones anyway, so its not going to be that big of a deal anymore.
Since Gary didn't stop by, the motor is still waiting to be put in, but at least I am more ready for it. I will want to do label all the plugs on it tomorrow if I get some time, and run the 0gauge wire to the back and through the firewall.

I got the Z32 oil cooler, but the lines are a little smaller than the oil relocation kit, so I will have to figure out some way of adapting it. I think I will go with a Setrab oil cooler down the road tho, so I might just sell this one.
This weekend I will be doing a lot of work, and hopefully the weather will cooperate better than it did in the past. I need to get most of the crap from the inside cleaned up and I am about to redo all the wiring for the gauges. The harness will need to be installed as well as the battery tray taken out. But thats just the minor stuff. If Gary stops by, we will put the tranny on and put in the motor. That will allow me to start bolting up the complete exhaust, that is just sitting in my room looking pretty.
