Got my stuff back from powdercoating and I'm liking the finish a lot. Its a black "wrinkled" black, that reminds me of Honda bike color called "asphalt." I got the differential cover done at the same time, and they came out awesome. I'll probably get more stuff done later on in the build.

Ordered up few seals for the diff. I already picked some up and will be receiving rest shortly, also going to be replacing the steering rack bushings soon.
more updates after S14 is done. Or if I'll be messing around with some side projects.

Since I had some time and Vin pulled the diff apart, I took it to get it cleaned up.
Few hours over at Lewe's garage, some primer and than some paint, the thing looks awesome now. Just few seals and new LSD to make it complete.

Thanks to one of the Zilvia guys, wiring for S13 cluster
Well here goes - ive done all this from scratch with wiring diagrams and following wires and circuit boards so may not be 100% but at lease we have an idea and a place to put all the info.
Ill still advise getting asmany wiring diagrams as you can though as this aint gonna be 100% and is done for a UK car that had a CA as standard.
This is how ive gone about labeling the wires and connectors.
Connectors are done A -> C going left to right as you look at the back of the cluster.
Wires are numbered top left -> top right and bottom left -> bottom right. This is also done from looking at the speedo from the back (aka looking from the wiring side nto the cluster side).
No number = no wire

Making a post because I always fuck up this info
Original FA post
www.car-part.com
search for a carrier(see also differential) for a 2001 nissan xterra
it will then ask you what diff you are looking for. click:
Front Axle, (6 cyl), SE (4.636 ratio)
it will bring up a list of junkyards that have the front differential assembly you need. call them, and have them absolutely 100% make sure that you are getting either the 37:8 or 51:11 ring and pinion set. tell them to even make sure they take the back cover off and check for the markings on the ring gear. i've seen a lot of yards screw that up when they inventory their product. there is a also a 49:10 set giving you obviously a 4.900 rear end ratio.
now when they ship this to you, you'll look at it and say what the hell is this monstrosity. don't worry, take it apart, because all you need out of it is the ring gear and the pinion. throw the rest of it in the garbage.
this pretty much puts you exactly at the same point you would be at as if went to nissan and ordered the nismo ring and pinion. install it into your R200 pumpkin as per the FSM and you now have much better gearing for a high revving motor.

Browsing more forums. Nothing exciting at work, so I'm just wasting time till 5pm. Than I look through classifieds. BAD MOVE.
Next thing I know I'm on the phone with some guy in TN telling him that I'll buy his Power FC.
Yep, it sucks having too much free time at work, but you do end up saving $$ in the end.
Technically there is a catch as the Power FC is for J4 ECU's and not for 62/E5, but nothing a little rewiring a few pins won't fix.
Here's the pinout change between E5/62 and J4 ECUs

Z32/Z33 trans, I found this good write up on adapting it to SR. Maybe even help with Vin's Q45 project :D
Also mentions use of Q45 rear end for the longer final gear.
http://forums2.freshalloy.com/showpost.php?p=1434016&postcount=9
"Bellhousing needed to be shaved 1/2" to make way for the transmission adapter. Bottom portion was omitted because we won't be using the two bottom bolts.
Trannies and drivetrain components shouldn't be rated by horsepower but rather torque capacity. I currently don't know what the Z33's gearbox is good for, but after opening it up and comparing it to the Z32's gearbox, it's not a huge difference. It's a significant upgrade from the SR gearbox, that's for sure.
Test fitment will start as soon as I have the engine bay painted. Right now it's bare metal. A quick mockup indicated it won't interfere with the firewall / trans tunnel, but a more thorough test fitting will be performed.
Transmission crossmember and mount will definitely be a custom piece. All I'm going to do is use a block of 50 durometer urethane and some plate steel and fab the mount myself.
Driveshaft will most definitely need to be custom made. Length will be different, spline count of the output shaft may be different, and I'm wanting to keep the slightly larger bolt pattern of the Q45 input flange.
Q45 R200V uses a bigger pinion for the output flange. I haven't researched what flanges are compatible. All I know is drivers side 300ZX TT axle on the drivers side, early model drivers side Q45 axle on the passenger side, and either Q45 or 300ZX TT rear hubs. The conversion will have the benefit of slightly larger axles.
Shifter will need to be shortened at the shift rod's universal joint. Some say a VQ40 manual transmission shift lever support bracket will work, but I'm just going to cut mine and weld it back together. With the lever fork right at the u-joint, close to factory shift lever position will be retained.
For a single plate clutch, I've done some measurements and what will work is SR flywheel + SR clutch + SR TOB sleeve + SR TOB + VQ slave cylinder. My ORC twinplate has the same pressure plate contact depth. I could theoretically use the stock TOB, but I got an ORC TOB who's entire body spins"
A little bid down I read this:
"I did some more research on this. The 350Z, 05+ V6 Frontier, and the 05+ Nissan Xterra all use the FS6R31A manual transmission gearbox, and the gear widths are identical per the official Nissan FSMs.
On a side note, it appears that the 05 Frontier 4-cyl equipped with the QR uses the FS5R30A 5-speed manual. For those that know, this is the same gearbox that's in the Z32 300ZX.
So essentially:
05+ Frontier 4-cylinder uses FS5R30A Z32 gearbox
05+ Frontier 6-cylinder uses FS6R31A Z33 gearbox
I'm now led to assume that the Z33 gearbox is equal to or greater than the Z32 gearbox in terms of strength."

So no pics, I know, but my final missing piece, Z32 trans, came in today. Got to try to get it tomorrow from Raffi, hopefully will hijack the Mustang to get it home. According to shipping its about 126lbs, but that includes pallet/packaging. Very happy about getting it here, one less thing to worry about later on :D

Lots of little things to update.
First of all, ordered up some wheels, in the 17x9.5 +29 variety. So spacers are going to be next - probably 1.25in. The centers will need to get redone as well.
Second, all my new pulleys are installed as of today. But I the belts might be different, so I got to check up on that.
Third, the LEDs came in, the project looks promising so far, but I didn't get the spare tail lights, so I'm going to wait and modify the S14 third brake light first. But I also will get the heater controls and probably gauges redone with LEDs over next few weeks.

Finally the pullies arrive. Test fitted them against OEM and it looks correct - so my worries are over. Just few more internal things and the engine will be getting redone. Can't wait.

Black Friday - Touge Factory was having a sale. Not exactly good idea to go there after getting a paycheck. Dropped off the harness for Eric, was supposed to pick up my pulleys, but I ended up walking out with overflow tank, a wideband and a Tshirt. No pulleys - too many shiny things distracting me. hehehe

Didn't get a chance to measure the size of the fitting in the back of the valve cover, but the T on the size is going to get tapped for 3/8NPT and AN lines that go to the catch can.

Wideband is MIA, which sucks. But I fixed Ben's car this Sat, which was more pain in the ass than I thought. But all was well untill Freddy intake manifold busted. DOH! But made me want my car done that much more.
